TBY = Non Cardinal Approved Website

And proud of it.

If being associated with the artist involves having to censor the opinions of the members, we are glad to not be approved by the band.  We are an independent group who came together because we share(d) an interest in the music of Ryan Adams.  Our opinions may have changed over time, but we still enjoy the community.  At least we can speak freely, right?

Funny how this message appears on the site the day after Ryan had a hissy fit on his blog.

Is someone reading the boards too?

"dubstar" speaks on new album

Neal Casal pal and fellow surfer “dubstar” has recently made some comments on the upcoming Cardinals album.  From his posts we gather the following information:

  • Arkham Aslyum was not recorded for the new album
  • The songs are all finished and the album is currently being mixed
  • The album was recorded in New York City
  • The album may not be similar to Easy Tiger as there was a different producer and it was a different session
  • Over 30 songs were recorded

Ryan Adams and Leah Hayes

Is love in the air or are they really just friends?  Ryan has been intensely blogging about her the last few days.  Most of the blogs have been about her comics and music (very promotional), but there have been a few where he has been quite fawning.  From her end, there was a Youtube video where she reached out to Ryan with a comic as she had no other way of contacting him (he lost his phone).  It seems as if she currently has a boyfriend, but that sure isn’t stopping Ryan.

Is this an indie rock match made in heaven?

More information about Ryan's book

Ryan has revealed some new information about his book today via his blog.  Here’s to hoping that he will do the same about the new album.  It does seem as if this book excites him much more than his music does these days.  We’re just glad he is enjoying himself.

dradams:

long-form narrative prose/ essay style poetry. about 375 pages worth.

ten years of research, two years of prep, and three months non-stop writing fort ten hours a day.

so it was all about editing and placement.

plus i wrote the middle chapters as i worked….like an egg, so to speak, it is a book with the past as hard shell- either side of the binding, holding things very soft and fragile and maybe as far inside as i could go.

so writing a fictional novel- which is the point of all this, to continue, (INFINITY is just a beginning, and long, and to be read over time- an anthology of a past and a present)- but writing this funny crazy novel is FUN FUN FUN but also, my knuckles hurt so fucking bad.

my god my arthritis…..

also you’re a silly goose and i am happy to respond to your question.

i have to go to work now.

have a great day.

Infinity Blues

is The working title of Ryan’s new book.  We aren’t sure yet if this is the poetry book Ryan has talked about, or the collection of short stories he was working on.  Cover Art is displayed below.  Ryan seems quite proud of it, and is very humbled to be able to release his writings.  We are proud of you for making a dream come true, we wish you the best on the release.

Five new songs debuted in San Francisco

It looks like we’ll be getting a taste of what the new Cardinals’ album holds for us.  The band debuted five new songs in San Francisco, a few which may have shown up as early versions via Ryan’s blog.  The early report is that the songs have an Easy Tiger sound with a hint of Cold Roses.  Hopefully we will be able to hear for ourselves when a recording is released.  The five new songs are titled as follows:

Fix it

Go Easy

Like Yesterday

Ever-Green

Cobwebs
